Abstract

The success of a team lies in the sum of its members' efforts and the balance of their skills. We are multidimensional and complex beings, where the dynamics of talent selection and management represent a challenge; more than an exact science, it is an art. The future of any project depends on these decisions, and experience has taught me that every person can become a valuable asset if they are in the right place, where they can contribute value and develop both personally and professionally.

My work approach focuses on the analysis and understanding of two elements that are often evident in both individuals and teams: the technical component and the emotional component. Having spent much of my life working in creative fields, I have understood that the balance between both hemispheres is what defines great professionals.

Values

The field of creativity and its study is intertwined with the study of human beings, encompassing areas such as psychology and sociology. People build their identities based on various aspects; I have chosen to construct mine on the foundation of values. That is why this is the first and most important section of my résumé, as values are the bedrock upon which all other characteristics of a person are built, including their technical skills and qualities. They provide a clear guide to how a person may behave, which can be extremely useful in determining whether I am a good fit for the culture within your organisation.

The most important value with which I deeply identify, rooted in the education I received at home and something I strive to strengthen constantly, is dignity: recognising the intrinsic worth of every human being and showing them the respect they deserve, regardless of the situation or circumstances. Everyone deserves respect.

While I am goal-oriented, I have learnt that obsessing over objectives can be detrimental if the focus is not well-structured. Instead, I pride myself on being excellent at concentrating on the process, doing what is necessary day by day, with each action contributing to the overall goals over time. The results will come eventually, often exceeding expectations. This applies both organisationally and personally, from a holistic perspective where the different areas of our lives are interconnected; good sleep habits can e nhance my work performance, which in turn brings peace, allowing me to strengthen my relationship with my family. This value can be called organisation and faith in the process—trusting that everything depends on the quality of the process and its small components. This is crucial in a world where individuals, companies, and even nations go through cycles of recession and motivation, days when everything flows and more challenging days. But the process is always there, along with discipline, to ensure that in the medium and long term, everything aligns with the established plans.

Hand in hand with this is curiosity, education, and development. I believe that what remains static tends to lose value to the point of becoming inert. Within my process, there is always room for research, reading, growth, and development, with the aim of constantly improving in all areas of my life and creating connections that allow me to better understand my reality, to serve my purpose and project objectives with better information and more tools, and ultimately to become a better human being.

Finally, there are all those values that make a person well-rounded, which are evident through their actions, such as punctuality, honesty, service, teamwork, assertive communication, and other soft skills that make a team function effectively.

Education

Primary and Secondary School:
Colegio El Minuto de Dios
(2001–2011)

I completed my early education at a demanding school in Bogotá that prioritised ethics, humanities, and academic discipline. I was fortunate to rank 17th nationwide among 1,000 students in a national assessment.

Social Communication and Journalism:
Universidad Central
(2011–2017)

Early on, I discovered my passion for the humanities and found a deep interest in communication. To me, communication is the “glue” that makes reality possible, a statement that may seem ambitious but holds true when we consider that communication is a phenomenon present in all aspects of the universe. It spans from mysterious and complex concepts like consciousness to more visible and tangible areas such as marketing or journalism.

My studies focused on the analysis of messages and how they can mobilise entire nations or influence an individual's actions. It is an inexhaustible field of study, one in which I can immerse myself for hours. Throughout my life, I have trained myself to create impact using various communicative tools, from graphic designs and literary texts to organisational strategies, audiovisual projects, and large-scale marketing campaigns. Every message starts with an idea that must be transformed into a concept and shaped according to a wide variety of factors to achieve a greater or lesser impact on a specific audience. University was my laboratory, where I experimented with a broad range of techniques, always maintaining a balance between technical and theoretical approaches.

Self-Education and Empiricism

Something I am deeply grateful to my father for is instilling in me a passion for reading. I began reading at an early age and, today, I am a compulsive book buyer. Although I respect academia and educational institutions, I am also a passionate advocate for self-education. We live in an era where we have access to a vast library of information from the comfort of our homes, just a click away. Now, it all depends on our cognitive discipline and desire to explore further.

I have set schedules to train myself in disciplines that are sometimes directly related to my professional field and other times less so, such as macroeconomics or neurology. I also follow a selection of scientific dissemination podcasts that I listen to frequently and consult articles in scientific journals. Curiosity and self-education allow me to maintain constant growth, connecting knowledge and applying it to improve in all areas of my life.

I have also delved into areas such as performing arts and music, fields that I enjoy and that connect me with human behaviour beyond reason. I am subscribed to several platforms that offer incredible educational content, such as Udemy, MasterClass, Brilliant, Crehana, and YouTube Premium.

Experience

Creative Director:
Interactive Media

Bogotá 2016-2020

Interactive Media was the agency that introduced me to the professional world. I was fortunate to join a small agency, newly established in the market, which offered me a space to grow and explore. With my curious and adventurous personality, I felt like I was starting a venture within a venture. When I joined, there were only two of us in the creative department, creating simple pieces for social media for various brands. As I progressed, I grew rapidly and, within a couple of years, I was leading a team of 10 people and developing national campaigns for major brands in different industries. One of our campaigns won the agency’s first award. In 2019, I decided to leave the agency to move to Australia and improve my English skills. To this day, I maintain a friendly relationship with the directors of Interactive Media.

DFO Global Performance Commerce

Brisbane 2020-2022

Upon arriving in Australia, I connected with eCommerce experts, an area I had some exposure to but had not yet explored in depth. They had well-developed strategies for selling on digital platforms from the advertising perspective, but they needed someone to handle the creative aspects of various campaigns to improve results. This experience was crucial for my career, as it allowed me to have direct contact with data analysis for decision-making regarding the creatives and messages I had to develop to increase sales. I perfected A/B testing strategies and realised that large groups of people tend to behave in similar ways. Working closely with those who made budget decisions and managed campaigns gave me a deeper understanding of digital marketing from another perspective, combining my emotional approach with the logical component, which is fundamental in decision-making. After nearly two years at DFO, I decided it was time to take on a new challenge and took some time to restructure my projects. Despite my departure, DFO left me with great friends with whom I still keep in touch.

FITAZ

Brisbane 2022-2023

In my search for new projects, I came across FITAZ, the company behind TRANSFORM, a digital platform that helps women achieve their health goals nationwide. I was very attracted to the purpose of the project, which not only generated economic benefits but also had a clear focus on service. With my experience in creativity for digital media, I was a perfect fit for what they were looking for. I worked closely with the director to create the brand’s monthly campaigns, which were distributed entirely online. I focused on creating content for organic growth as well as the conceptualisation and marketing of the company, collaborating closely with M3, the agency responsible for advertising and media. I still maintain a friendly relationship with Aaron, the owner of the company.

Arquett, Swissklip

Brisbane 2023

A director I had worked with at DFO contacted me when he found out I had left the company. He invited me to collaborate in his new role at a company with a modus operandi very similar to DFO’s. I accepted this challenge as a short consultancy, as I was looking to change activities and explore new projects.

Digital Content Lead
First Focus

Brisbane 2024-Present

First Focus has been an incredibly valuable experience for my growth. Up to this point, I had always worked in environments with a strong focus on creativity and idea generation, surrounded by extroverted professionals with high skills in marketing, communication, and interaction. In contrast, First Focus is an IT company where most of the team is oriented towards logic, structure, and reasoning. This has forced me to adapt, change my habits, and redefine my working style to align with the company’s dynamics. It has been a great learning experience, as I have realised that the pinnacle of creativity lies in discipline and structure. At First Focus, I am responsible for the creativity behind the brand, leading social media content, and, most importantly, developing all the creatives for the company’s podcast, Business Focus. This podcast is aimed at a specific audience interested in business and has been broadcasted from the most significant IT events in Australia and the United States.

Technical Skills

Storytelling

Throughout my career, I have developed a solid foundation in areas such as graphic design, audiovisual production, and web design. I constantly stay up to date with the latest software versions and recent implementations in collaborative work approaches, process automation, and artificial intelligence. All of these skills revolve around my greatest strength: storytelling. Our civilisation has been built upon the ability to transmit information, and the most impactful information is that which includes characters, plots, narrative threads, and contrasts. The best communicators in the world and throughout history first mastered the art of storytelling; after that, every other skill simply becomes a tool to tell great stories, which are ultimately the most powerful way to connect messages.

Writing, Web Design

Word PowerPoint WordPress HTML5 CSS3

I have a great ability to structure written messages, organise information, and a deep connection with language and its infinite possibilities. Language is dynamic, subjective, and intimate. Words are the codes that build the map of individual and collective realities; they are the tool we use to draw in the minds of others.

Graphic Design

I have always had a highly developed aesthetic sense. Since I was a child, I have been drawn to shapes, the arrangement of elements, and colours, and I have developed a style that adapts to different projects. Just as we can tell stories with words and convey emotions to immerse the audience in narratives, we can also do so using non-verbal language. Storytelling is the cornerstone of my skills.

Audiovisual

Davinci Premiere FinalCut

An audiovisual piece combines composition (photography), script, and audio, working together to create a complete experience and have more control over the message. When a person reads a text, they simultaneously see images and hear sounds in their mind; in an audiovisual piece, this information is provided, allowing creatives to be more specific about what they want to convey.

Animation

AE C4D Red Shift Animatics

I have knowledge of 2D and 3D animation techniques, which can complement any type of audiovisual project, guiding attention and highlighting the aspects we want to emphasise.

Sound

Studio One Logic Pro Adobe Audition Pro Tools

The manipulation of audio, sound design, and musical composition are areas where I find immense passion. Sound is the secret weapon of any creative to emotionally connect with their audience. Music in a film is responsible for generating tears, excitement, or tension. Although there are many studies and documents on this topic, the nature of sound in relation to emotions and the universe is still not fully understood. There are very complex theories involving the vibrations of strings as the building blocks of the universe itself; in a poetic sense, everyone and everything is music. Regardless of this, I love manipulating sound, creating songs, editing podcasts, and adding sound to projects.

AI

Midjourney Google AI ChatGpt Gemini

Artificial intelligence has become a powerful creative ally in my workflow. While the term prompt engineering has gained popularity recently, the essence of it is something creatives have practiced for a long time: translating abstract ideas into clear instructions to shape outcomes. Whether it's guiding a brainstorming session, searching for the exact sound in a vast library, or refining a visual concept, I’ve been unconsciously training for this long before it had a name. Today, I actively incorporate AI into my process, not as a replacement, but as a strategic extension of my vision. Used wisely, it doesn’t dilute creativity; it amplifies it. I believe that true creative power lies in knowing what to ask, how to ask it, and how to shape the response into something meaningful. AI is not the storyteller. We are. But it can be an extraordinary tool in helping us tell better stories.

Staging and Live Events

I studied dramatic arts at several academies, and this, along with my knowledge of communication and various other tools, is helpful whenever I am involved in live events. From small details such as the concept behind invitations to lighting, agenda, and everything related to ensuring that the audience has an experience where the message is imprinted.

Portfolio

Over the past decade, I’ve worked on a wide range of projects—from deeply artistic pieces like short films and music videos, to highly corporate formats such as case studies, performance-driven campaigns, and business podcasts. In the day-to-day, it’s easy to lose track of the vast amount of visuals created along the way. What follows is a personal selection of some of the work I’ve chosen to keep and share.

I’d also like to mention that my work has been recognised on two occasions: first, with the OOH Award from Juxdelyux for Best Outdoor Ad in Colombia (2019), and later, with the Sparrowland Film Award for Best Web Series in Australia (2023).

Work Philosophy

My work philosophy is aligned with my personal philosophy, based on the balance between the two forces that influence various aspects such as personality, teams, and projects. These two forces manifest in the duality of human nature and in the elements that must work together for any project or company to succeed. A clear example is the dynamic of many successful companies, where two strong leaders are in charge of the two main areas of the business: the technical and operations side, and the sales and marketing side. The first is related to logic and structure; the second, to emotions, innovation, and the abstract. Creativity and growth are achieved through the balance of these two facets.

My approach to work involves understanding and balancing both perspectives, at both individual and team levels. It is essential to have clear structures that make a project viable in the medium and long term, while also creating spaces to explore and grow through more flexible dynamics. This is where interpersonal relationships, parallel thinking, cultural focus, and brainstorming sessions, among others, come into play. The corporate world is too complex to be analysed solely through numbers or emotions. That’s why I allocate my time and efforts to cover both perspectives, something I have been able to achieve thanks to my experience in teams focused on either of these two areas.

Personal Manual

Communication is the fundamental tool for effective teamwork; it requires not only effort but also consistency. Efficient communication enables people in a team to work in synergy. However, it can become problematic if managed incorrectly, unilaterally, or without structure. For me, it is essential to create spaces where all members of a meeting are active participants and can contribute, focusing their efforts on their specific roles. These spaces should ensure that people feel comfortable expressing their ideas, even when not all of them can be implemented. While not every idea can be realised, every idea should be heard.

Conversations strengthen agreements and relationships, help to understand differences, and prevent misunderstandings, thereby facilitating the organisation of efforts. I also deeply value politeness, human interaction, and respect in all its forms, such as punctuality and honesty.

In conclusion, effective communication not only drives collaboration and productivity but also creates an environment of trust and respect where ideas can thrive, and people feel valued. This type of communication is the pillar that supports the success of any team.
